The Land That Time Forgot
This scene is literally no more than 500 metres from my house where I have lived for 14 years and yet I never knew it existed. It's in a part of the wood that I've never been to until yesterday when I took the camera and my new Wellies for a spin.
It was early and very quiet, and nothing stirred but the birds overhead. It was very eerie.

wonderful... th tones and lighting do give the impression of something prehistoric...
chunter: Thanks, PhotoSam. That's the way it struck me when I saw it, so I processed it to enhance the feeling.
Top notch Colin
chunter: Good of you to say so Nigel; thanks.
I love this! I love moss and have a file just for that. Yesterday's photo on my blog was moss as a matter of fact. Your shot is moody and absolutely beautiful.
chunter: Thank you so much Mary. I must get round to visiting some of my usual contacts as well as all the others I try to visit. I'll look in on you shortly.
A "Lord of the Rings" atmosphere ! Where's Gollum ?
Great work Colin !
chunter: Thank you very much, Florence. It struck me as prehistoric or "other worldly" too.
Colin, this shot is pure magic! (:o)
chunter: So glad you like it Roz. I'm very happy with the way it turned out too.
Where do you live, Colin, that you are so blessed to live less than 500 from this serene place that you've so beautifully captured?
chunter: About here, Kathryn (see the link). The image is in the clump of woodland between Firs Rd and the A36 dual-carriageway. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=51.042149,-1.723636&spn=0.002391,0.005622&t=h&z=18
Well seen Colin, looks a bit spooky, very Tolkienesque (not sure how to spell that but I'm sure you get the meaning)
chunter: Spelling looks good to me Les. Many thanks for dropping in.
I really like this Collin
chunter: Thanks so much Jide. It's a bit different from what you normally produce, though, so I really appreciate your comment.
I think Gollum handled the picture maker
Great picture and presentation.
chunter: The greater part of the wood is in the other direction so I have always gone that way before. It just goes to show that you must explore every avenue.
Gorgeous reflection shot Colin.
chunter: Thanks Aussie. Reflections almost always make a good picture so I had it made from the start.
Fabulous one....the reflection is stunning!! wow I am impressed.
chunter: It was all there just waiting for me to capture it: had been waiting for millions of years. I thought I was going to see Raquel Welch being chased by some cavemen.
Hope you had a good vacation. Welcome back.
Wow, amazing exposure. The reflection is bright and crisp. I also like the borders/text design your using these days (mind if I borrow the "¦" idea to separate the elements on mine?).
chunter: Just a little dodging and burning used here to enhance what was already there.
I pinched the presentation directly from you, so who am I to say you can't pinch the "|" separator? Go for it.
Returning the compliment. You also have some stunning images on your blog.
This one is absolutely riveting Colin. The subdued tones counteract the business of all those trunks and branches and combined with the calm reflections give the image a peaceful and slightly mysterious atmosphere. This is definitely one for the wall.
chunter: Yes, this one seems to be strangely successful and yet I was as lax with this one as with most of my efforts. I really must knuckle down and do a proper, conscientious job on all my images.
Many thanks for dropping in and commenting, Ron.
Classic - hadn't even realised the presentation was so similar to mine... (I'm quietly flattered)
chunter: Is there another way?
Pretty reflection. Nice composition
chunter: Thanks Nadine. I appreciate your kind comment.
